Ed Van Der Sar saved the day for the Dutch keeping Sebastien Remy at bay twice right at the death and the 1-0 win over Luxembourg wasn’t good enough for him.
“We’re all disappointed that we weren’t able to provide the fans with what we had promised: a handsome victory. It’s been a good week for us. We worked hard before the game and did everything right during, coming up with too many chances,” said the all-time Oranje appearances record holder after playing his 122nd international match.
“Scoring the second goal should be a simple matter to us. But instead they could have made it 1-1. That’s incredible. It should never have happened, but it really signals out the inexperience of this side. Luxembourg’s two counterattacks could have cost us our place in the European Championship finals.” said the Manchester United goalkeeper, getting the thumbs up for his performance from Danny Koevermans.
Van Der Sar told reporters that he will announce on Sunday whether he will be traveling to Minsk for Wednesday’s game or not.
